On the way up to Preston Point, The first time since arriving here that My cares seem to have been washed away By waves kissing limestone caves Longer than I could say Under the sea, glassy eyes staring at me Looking away, losing sight of the reef Blessed day to be landlocked with a loyal crew Up to their waists in mud carrying her on through I was forced to undergo A particular kind of martyrdom Stranded on a shoal A burning midday sun Everyone in pursuit of crabs
3.
Deadfall of stones on the floor of a tent As if from a spectre Gentle in force Many would claim to have noticed the hand Volleys would hail from The Cursed Man of Borden Molly, what my heart took hold of Maybe it’s a sign from above A clearing bounded by watchful ghost gums Glistening with scars Wounds left as evidence Pacing the site where the message had been Heard but not seen By wandering brothers Night falls, we await the first stone Dawn came, I awoke on my own
4.
I awake, falling asleep To the sound of Glories Calling to me Down on the floor I lay Hidden ‘way and led astray Waiting for your face through the door One day I awake, falling asleep To the sound of Glories In a blue ruin haze I’ll not dream to show my face Ever again here

The family’s been waiting For a spot of sailing But we’re anticipating Some heavy swell Don’t mind the dreadful weather As long as we’re together For Everard and Bertha A memory to treasure Future mourners Drag the waters Little wonder with hinches like that It’s no wonder they failed on the tack Three ugly dips veiled by the island

Pulled from the soil and thrown to the sea Planted in mythical antipode No ruins grey and no hallowed fanes Sold out of hand into the bay Some things were made to grow in the shade Evergrey Always a first time for everything

This music was written and recorded on Whadjuk Noongar boodja. It draws inspiration from events that occurred on that country as well as Wiilman and Minang boodja. We pay respects to elders past, present and emerging, and give thanks to all First Nations people for their continued custodianship of this boodja on which we live and make.
